Interlaken itself is a small town between two lakes, so the day is spent leaving it rather than in it. Most of what is on this page runs three hours or less — the jetboat is fifty minutes, the tandem flight an hour and a half — which is why people here often take two things in one day.
What does the boat day pass actually cover?
It is a day pass for the boats on Lake Thun, and on Lake Brienz as well from the beginning of April until mid-October. You board and leave where you like for the day, which makes it transport to the villages around both lakes as much as a sightseeing trip. At $51 it is the lowest day-trip fare on this page.
What is the difference between the canyoning trip and the canyon swing?
The canyoning trip is three hours of moving through a gorge: a 10-metre abseil to start, then the narrow sections taken by jumping, sliding and climbing, with the wetsuit and the guides supplied. The canyon swing is one arc on a rope in the glacier canyon at Grindelwald, with the harness, the helmet and an instructor. Both start in Interlaken.
Which trips from Interlaken work with children?
The Glacier Canyon ticket at Grindelwald is the gentlest of them: galleries and tunnels on a walkway, a spiderweb strung across the gorge and the crystal museum, and the listing is marked wheelchair accessible. The boat day pass and the jetboat on Lake Brienz are the other two that ask nothing of you, and the jetboat listing is marked wheelchair accessible as well.
What is there to do in Interlaken in winter?
Three of the thirteen belong to the cold months: an afternoon on the beginner slopes at Grindelwald with the skis, boots and instruction included, night sledding on a moonlit run above town, and a small-group kayak on Lake Brienz in a sealed expedition dry suit. The gondola to Mount First and the gorge tickets run through the winter too; the Lake Brienz sailings on the boat pass return in April.
